Palmisciano, Contracting Officer at (401) 841-2442 X289 FAX: (401) 841-4820 The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport, intends to solicit competitive proposals for the restoration of approximately 40 different types of underwater electroacoustic transducers. Before a formal solicitation is developed, however, NUWC is requesting information from industry regarding the contract type and structure of the intended solicitation to help the government determine the appropriate acquisition strategy for the restoration requirements. Previous contracts have been awarded using an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract, which has certain problems and shortcomings. NUWC has prepared an Acquisition Strategy Report listing the existing contract shortcomings as well as areas for contractors to address. This report will be available by July 8 on NUWC's WWW page: WWW.NPT.NUWC.NAVY.MIL/CONTRACTS. Or fax requests for this report to Ms. Kelly Shane, Contracting Officer, at facsimile number 401- 841-4820. NUWC has scheduled a presolicitation conference for July 31, 1996. At that time, NUWC will present a brief overview of its requirements and the problems associated with the current contract type. Following the Government's presentation, contractors will be allowed to give a presentation on their recommendations. All contractor presentations, which can be private if requested, are not to exceed one hour in length. Scheduling of presentations shall be made through Ms. Shane at telephone number (401) 841-2442 ext. 302. Contractors may also provide Ms. Shane with written suggestions or questions, in advance, to be addressed at the conference. The presolicitation conference will be held at NUWCNL, Bldg. 80, Room 2085 on 31 July 1996 at 0900. Attendance is limited to 3 representatives per company. Names of attendees must be provided in writing to Ms. Shane by 26 July 1996 .
