COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 3,1996 PSA#1629319th Contracting Squadron, LGCV, 575 6th Ave., Bldg 418, Grand Forks
AFB, ND 58205-6436 W -- LEASE OF SKID MOUNTED COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS STATION FOR VEHICLES
Contact Contracting Officer, Duane F. Mann, 701/747-5271. This is a
sources sought market survey and request for information/industry
comments. This is NOT a notice of solicitation. The United States Air
Force is contemplating the installation of a skid mounted compression
station, to supply compressed natural gas (CNG) to it's fleet of
vehicles. We are contemplating a lease with or without an option to
purchase. The contractor would be completely responsible for
maintaining the unit during the lease period. The unit will initially
deliver approximately 45,000 gallons per year of CNG (methane) to a
fleet initially of 50 assorted vehicles equipped to operate in a dual
fuel mode, using either gasoline or CNG. Natural gas will be available
from a commercial pipeline source at 20 psig (minimum) and will be
compressed to 5000 psig (maximum). Compressor and short term CNG
storage capacity will be adequate to provide quick-fill capacity,
through a non-leaking, fail-safe delivery system, to vehicles with
appropriate on-board storage. System to be skid mounted, for maximum
ease of delivery and relocation, and shall be equipped with all safety
features. Operation will be unattended, except for refueling of
vehicles. The system will be designed as nearly as possible for future
expansion of capacity to serve a growing fleet of CNG-fueled vehicles.
Grand Forks AFB currently has a combined fleet of 975 assorted vehicle
of which 35% are targeted for conversion to dual-fuel operations by
1977, and 75% by 1999. We encourage and request that potential
suppliers submit a response indicating their capabilities and
experience, design concepts, performance limitations, rough capital and
operating cost information, and any concerns or strategy for fulfilling
this requirement. The US Air Force will not assume responsibility for
any expense generated as a result of participating in this survey. A
Request for Proposal (RFP) may be pursued depending on results to the
responses received as a result of this synopsis. This survey is for
information and planning and to identify potential sources. Vendors
should indicate if the firm is a large, small, disadvantaged and/or
woman owned business. Submit your response to 319 CONS/LGCV, Attn: Mr.
