Buley, MAJ (410) 671-4778 (Site Code DAAM01) The Product Manager for Smoke/Obscurants is interested in determining if the technology exists in the commercial sector for the development of a low cost laser and radar detection and warning sysytem for application to military vehicles. Sensors will be externally mounted while the display unit will be internally mounted. Desired performance criteria include: a) detect wavelength/frequencies of 1.06um, 35 Ghz, 94 Ghz, b) operate over a temperature range of -25 degrees F to +160 degrees F, c) signal discrimination in 90 degree increments (front, back, right, left) to provide 360 degree coverage, d) a display unit that provides visual and aural indicator of detection, method of discriminating between laser and radar detection, an indicator of signal strength, and direction indicator, e) operation on 24 volts DC, f) a detection range out to 4000 meters, g) small size to allow mounting on wheeled as well as armored vehicles, and h) a system cost of less than $2500.00. There is no commitment on the part of the U.S. Army to award a contract as a result of this request for information nor to pay for the information received.
