The building will be vacated during construction. Work includes, but is not limited to selective interior demolition and remodeling; installation of a new fire sprinkler system; upgrade of the HVAC and Electrical systems; installation of a new Fire Alarm system, Elevator, Vistor's Center and Conferencing Facility; and various Life Safety improvements. The contract period is for 245 calendar days. Estimated cost range $5,000,000 - $6,000,000. Copies of the plans and specifications can be obtained from BPS, 1201 Main Street, Redwood City, CA 94063 (415) 306-4100 at a cost of approximately $100.00 per set plus postage. All amendments will be furished to planholders at Government expense. The solicitation package will be available on or about June 21, 1996. Solicitation receipt will be on or about August 1, 1996. This procurement is being made under the Small Bsuiness Competitive Demonstration Program. Although this procurement is open to both large and small businesses, small and disadvantaged firms are encouraged to participate. Before award of the contract, large businesses will be required to submit an acceptable small business and small disadvantaged business subcontracting plan in accordance with Public Law 95-507 (small businesses are exempt). There will be a site-visit and pre-bid conference at the U.S. Geological Survey on July 9, 1996 at 10:00 AM. Planholders will be notified of time and/or change to this date.
