a requirement for narrow-band, VHF high-band and UHF land-mobile radio
systems. These radio systems must meet National Telecommunications
Information Agency (NTIA) multimode 12.5/25 kilohertz (kHz) channel
spacing and Project 25 digital radio standards as proposed, and as
further defined in APCO Project 25 available from APCO Automated
Frequency Coordination, Inc., South Daytona, Florida, 1-800-949-2726,
ext. 231 or Global Engineering Documents, 15 Inverness Way East,
Englewood, CO 80112-5704, 1-800-854-7179. The resulting contract(s)
will be used to purchase VHF/UHF multimode narrowband radio equipment
for U.S. Government agencies. Any U.S. Government agency may place an
order under the contracts. Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity type
contracts will be awarded. It is anticipated that multiple awards will
be made, in accordance with FAR 16.504(c). The types and estimated
quantities of equipment and software to be acquired include: 1. Base
Stations - 2,100 ea., 2. Mobile Stations - 14,500 ea., 3. Portable
Stations (Hand-Held Units) - 24,000 ea., 4. Repeater Stations;
Alternating Current (AC) Powered Stations - 1088 ea. and Direct Current
(DC) Powered Stations - 265 ea., 5. Transportable (Base and Repeater)
Stations- 366 ea., 6. Options which may be required; Base Station
Remote Control Units - 1,800 ea. and Radio/telephone Interconnect Units
- 25 ea., 7. Power Systems; Battery Backup Interface Equipment for AC
powered Stations - 250 ea. and DC power Systems - 100 ea., 8.
Crossbanding/Linking Equipment (UHF to VHF, VHF to UHF, and VHF to
Microwave - 18 ea., 9. Software, Manuals and Training for equipment of
each type., 10. Commercial Warranty on all equipment and software. The
estimated quantities listed are not guaranteed or firm quantities. The
quantities reflect the Department of Interior's best estimate of its
requirements over the next five years. Actual contract quantities may
be significantly higher or lower dependent on DOI's actual requirements
and usage of the contracts by other Government agencies. The Request
for Proposals (RFP), Number 660-R-96-1002 will be issued on or about
October 23, 1996. A Request for Comment (RFC) may be issued prior to
the RFP. All prospective offerors responding to this notice will
receive a copy of the RFC, if issued, and the RFP. Please submit
