Febach (301) 975-6326 The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to purchase a two-stage gas pressure generating unit capable of producing 200,000 lb psi gas pressure, Model SK-2850, on a sole source basis from Harwood Engineering Co., Inc., Walpole, MA. NIST justifies the sole source in accordance with FAR 6.302-1. One each. Delivery FOB destination 90 calendar days from contract award. Specifications include: production of inert gas at 200,000 lb psi pressure, calibrated Manganin pressure sensor with resolution of +/- 50 psi, RS 232 read out of pressure sensor for recording by computer, pressure obtained with two hydraulically driven stages, the first a 1:1 intensifier and the second a 4:1 intensifier; hydraulic pressure driver for both stages produced with electric motor, isolation and pressure release valve at the final stage outlet capable of maintaining pressure of 200,000 psi for minimum one week, safety burst valves for protection of the first stage, 50,000 lb psi.
