Mamie L. Wandick (816) 426-6823 x237 The government intends to procure
a time lapse camera system. The camera system will be used to document
the movement of bottom sediment in lakes and in the ocean. Technical
Requirements: The system must consist of a camera, light source(s),
timer and power supply. The camera shall use standard 35mm film, have
a field of view of at least 35 degrees by 50 degrees, have an
adjustable aperture, be able to record at least 600 exposures on a
single roll of film, have a data chamber which includes the frame
number and time on each exposure, and have a focus range of at least 2'
to infinity. The light source(s) shall have an energy output of at
least 300 watt-seconds (two separate sources can be used to fulfill
this requirement). The time shall control both the camera and the light
source(s) and have an adjustable interval control. The range of useable
intervals shall extend from at least one picture every 30 minutes to
one picture every 24 hours. The power source shall be either 12v or 24v
DC and shall provide at least 600 exposures without recharging.
Performance Requirements: The system must be able to be deployed in
waters up to 500 m deep and must be able to operate unattended for
periods of up to 6 months and shall be able to operate for years with
routine maintenance. Evaluation Criteria: Proposals will be evaluated
on the following criteria, all of which are equally important: 1.
System meets or exceed all of the criteria listed above. 2. System is
designed as a true underwater system, not a regular camera and strobe
put into a set of pressure housings. 3. Supplier has a history of
manufacturing such systems. and, 4. System is composed of
'off-the-shelf' components; it is not a specially designed unit. This
procurement action is a proposed sole source. If there are no qualified
vendors the procurement will be issued to SIMRAD, Inc. of San Marcos,
CA. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) will be issued on or about July 25,
1996. Interested parties should submit their interest within 15
calendar days from the date of the CBD announcement. Copies of the RFQ
may be requested in writing by faxing a request to (816) 426-7530.
Satisfactory receipt of the request is the sole responsibility of the
vendor. (0187) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0483 19960708\67-0001.SOL)
