COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 9,1996 PSA#1632System Operator - Vendor FACTS. c/o: PRC Environmental Management,
Inc., 1593 Spring Hill Road, Suite 300, Vienna, VA 22182 F -- VENDOR FACTS 2.0 DUE 081696. Contact Point, Vendor FACTS Help
Line Operator, 800/245-4505. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) is inviting developers, manufacturers, and vendors of innovative
field analytical and site characterization technologies to submit new
or updated information for listing in Version 2.0 of the Vendor Field
Analytical and Characterization Technologies System (Vendor FACTS)
database. Vendor FACTS is a service provided by EPA's Technology
Innovation Office (TIO) and National Exposure Research Laboratory
(NERL) to technology vendors to make their products and capabilities
known to professionals responsible for the assessment and cleanup of
Superfund sites, RCRA corrective actions sites, state-led cleanups,
federal facility restoration programs, and remedial actions at leaking
underground storage tank (UST) sites in the United States, as well as
remediation projects abroad. The technologies that are included in
Vendor FACTS must be portable or transportable and fall in one of these
four categories: analytical, geophysical, extraction, and sampling.
Analytical technologies include acoustical wave chemical sensors, air
measurement devices, analytical detectors, biosensors, chemical
reaction-based indicators, laser spectroscopy equipment, fiber optic
chemical sensors, gas and other chromatography devices, infrared
monitors, mass spectrography instruments, soil gas analyzer systems,
ion mobility spectroscopy devices, x-ray fluorescence analyzers, and
electro-chemical based detectors. Geophysical technologies include
downhole sensors, ground penetrating radar, subsurface electromagnetic
sensors, seismic reflection/refraction sensors, subsurface
resistivity/conductivity devices, and subsurface magnetrometry
instruments. Extraction technologies include analytical traps,
supercritical fluid extraction and thermal desorption equipment.
Sampling technologies include innovative devices that sample air, gas,
water, or soil sampling technologies, product sampling technologies,
product sampling technologies and borehole technologies. Stand alone
modeling software used in the field to facilitate the site
characterization process will also be included. Technologies not
eligible for inclusion are those intended for monitoring or
characterizing industrial process waste streams, general purpose
software to manipulate data, radioactivity sensors, remote sensors
operated from aircraft and technologies that have minor improvements
over established technologies. Vendors may bell the Vendor FACTS Help
Line at (800) 245-4505 to determine if their technologies fit the
criteria for inclusion in the system. Vendors of eligible technologies
must complete the Vendor Information Form (VIF) to participate in the
database. To obtain a VIF 2.0 (EPA-542-R-96-006), fax your request to
the U.S. EPA/National Center for Environmental Publications and
Information at (513) 489-8695 or send an electronic mail (e-mail)
request to ``cassidt@prcemi.com'' or download the VIF from the Vendor
FACTS web page on the World Wide Web at http://www.prcemi.com/vfacts.
Vendors may also call (800) 245-4505 for an electronic version of the
VIF on a 3.5'' IBM-compatible diskette. Submit completed VIF to: Vendor
FACTS System Operator, c/o PRC Environmental Management Inc., 1593
Spring Hill Road, Suite 300, Vienna, VA 22182. Submission deadline is
August 16, 1996. Submittals received after the deadline will be
reviewed as time and resources permit. Vendors who participated in
Vendor FACTS Version 1.0 will be contacted in the near future by mail
for information updates. Vendor FACTS 2.0 is scheduled for release in
December 1996. For further information, contact the Vendor FACTS Help
Line at 1-800-245-4505. (185) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0021 19960708\F-0001.SOL)
