JOINT CONFERENCE ON MACHINERY DIAGNOSTICS AND PROGNOSTICS; AND RELIABILITY, STRESS ANALYSIS AND FAILURE PREVENTION APRIL 15-17, 1997 The 51st Technical Meeting of the Society for Machinery Failure Prevention Technology (MFPT 51) and the 12th Biennial Conference in Reliability, Stress Analysis and Failure Prevention (RSAFP-12) will be held at the Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach, Virginia on April 15-17, 1997. The MFPT Society, a non-profit Division of the Vibration Institute, will host and manage the conference and prepare the conference Proceedings. Other sponsors of MFPT 51 include the Office of Naval Research U.S. Army Research Laboratory and the Naval Surface Warfare Center. The MFPT 51 Theme is ``A Critical Link; Diagnosis to Prognosis''. MFPT sessions will be organized by subject matter, depending upon the abstracts submitted. MFPT papers are solicited in the areas of condition based maintenance, condition monitoring, machinery and structural diagnostics and prognostics, neural network/AI applications, materials behavior, failure analysis, sensors technologies and structural analysis. Case histories are encouraged. Papers on new developments in reliable prognosis techniques are especially welcome. RSAFP papers are sought in areas of failure and reliability of materials (metals, ceramics and composites), optimization, safety techniques, probabilistic methods in analysis and design, fatigue and creep reliability, fracture mechanics and stress analysis. Papers dealing with practical industrial applications and design are solicited by both sponsors, as are any papers that contribute to the advancement of mechanical failure prevention technology.
