The United state Army tank-automotive and armaments command is seeking sources for the competitive acquisition of up to 12,000 conta iner roll-in/out platforms (crops) is support of the palletized load system (pls). These crops would be procur Ed instead of the M1 ISO-compatible palletized flatracks (ipfs), which were described in a CBD announcement DA Ted 15 Feb 96. The 4,000 M1 flatracks to which the Mark ET survey referred will not be procured at this time. It is planned to solicit this requirement for crops with up to three awards, one of which will be a small busine SS set-aside. Awards will be made under a best value approach, under which price, technical and past performan CE considerations will be evaluated. The crop is an a-frame type flatrack with length and width slightly small er than the M1077 flatrack, so that the crop will fit in a standard 20-foot ISO container. The crop will be re quired to be blocked and braced inside the container Su CH that NO damage will occur to the crop or the contain er when subjected to rail impact testing at speeds up to 8.9 MPH. The crop will Carry the same type of cargo, including ammunition, as the M1 or M1077 flatracks. A draft specification will be released for industry comment in approximately 30 days.
