Mr. Greg Holliday, Contract Specialist, 6120 Executive Boulevard,
EPS/803 Rockville, Maryland 20892. The Government intends to negotiate
with Carl Zeiss, Inc. on a sole source basis under the authority of
41.U.S.C. 253(c) (1) for a Confocal Microscope System. The system shall
have an adjustable confocal aperture for each fluorescens detector;
Shall be equipped with 4 detectors (3 fluorescene and 1 transmitted)
and shall be able to record from any three simultaneously. The system
shall be able to simultaneously process three channel data. The system
shall display true R,G,B, for any of the three channels, (up to 1024
x 1024 pixels per channel. The systems shall scan up to 512 x 512 in
500 msec and 1400 lines per second. The system shall include dual
galvano scanning mirrors allowing for full rotation of the scan to a
tenth of a degree through 360 degrees. The system shall have
interpretive macro language with graphical user interface built into
the LSM application software. The system shall provide for full range
of focus of the axiovert (9.9 mm) in increments to 50 nm. The system
shall include water immersion lenses designed for confocal. These
lenses shall have long working distance, adjustable cover slip
correction, high transmission in the near UV through IR wavelenghts,
specifically, the 40X C-APO 1.2 NA with 220 micron working distance and
adjustable cover slip correction from.14 to .18 mm. The lens shall
provide depth of field of 1 rayleigh unit = um at 546 nm. The
correction collar shall carry 2 divisions going beyond the minimal
range from .13 to 19 mm. The lens shall offer correction for
temperature of varied samples at either 23 or 37 degrees Celsius. It is
the Government's belief that these requirements can be met by Carl
Zeiss, Inc.. This is not a formal solicitation. However, concerns that
respond to this notice must furnish concise responses directed
specifically to the requirements mentioned above. Sources demonstrating
the capability to accomplish the above shall supply pertinent
information in sufficient detail to demonstrate that ability to
perform. Information furnished shall include enough material to perform
a proper evaluation. Respondents will not be notified of the evaluation
results. Closing date will approximately 45 calendar days publication
