Z -- AMBULATORY SURGERY SOL IFB672-136-96 DUE 091396 POC Gilberto Ratcliff The VA Medical Center, San Juan, Puerto Rico requires the procurement of a construction project titled ''Ambulatory Surgery''. This project will require the expansion of several areas of the existing surgery suites to evaluate and schedule outpatient surgery. Total area to be renovated is approximate 5,000 Gross Square Feet ( GSF). The expansion of existing area is to incorporate the New Ambulatory Surgery Program which will include general and local anesthesia procedures. The areas to be remodeled or expanded are the following: (a) Dressing rooms and toilets, (b) waiting area, (c) ambulatory surgery patients secondary recovery room, (d) patient holding area, (e) registration/data entry area, and (f) evaluation room. A new dressing area needs to be established with a locker room and handicapped accessible toilets for male patients. A smaller toilet and dressing area is needed for female patients, also handicapped accessible. The existing waiting area located in the corridor needs to be expanded to include the family of the ambulatory surgical patients who will need help from their relatives to leave the hospital. A new registration/data entry and evaluation areas, which are required to evaluate and schedule surgery patients, will be included. Existing office space and Neurology Clinic facilities needs to be relocated in a domino move in order to provide the required space to expand existing surgery facilities in order to create ambulatory surgery facilities. All OSHA Safety requirements shall be addressed by the contractor while doing his construction work. Use of elevators is conditioned to the proper use of them. Demolition, asbestos abatement, disposal and installation of all work related is the responsibility of the contractor. This procurement is set aside for small business concerns and subject to availability of funds. Bid documents will be available on or about August 9, 1996. Plans and specifications will be furnished upon request. Solicitation request will be provided for a non-refundable cost of $50.00 as a money order or bank certified or manager's check payable to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
