The U. S. Postal Service is soliciting proposals for construction of renovations to existing leased space in a shopping mall for a postal retail store to be known as Smoke Tree Station, 1775 Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, California. A pre-proposal conference and walk-through will be conducted at the site on July 24, 1996 at 10:30 A.M. Although attendance at the conference is not mandatory, this will be the only time contractors will have access to the space prior to submitting proposals. The estimated value of this project is under $250,000. The proposal must contain the offeror's overhead, profit, bonds, insurance, building permit, and all other contingencies. No allowance for such items will be made after contract award. Evaluation factors will be price and experience; these factors are of equal importance. Contractors will be evaluated on and must provide evidence of a minimum of three years construction experience within the last five years and completion of three projects of comparable size, scope and cost within the last five years. The minority subcontracting goal for this contract will be 10%. Performance and payment bonds and evidence of current State of California General Building Contractors License (b) issued in the name of the offeror/contractor or principal of the firm must be received within ten days after receipt of intent-to-award letter. The Postal Service does not accept individual sureties. There is a non-refundable charge of $25.00 for a copy of the solicitation.
