The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code for this project is 1542 - General Contractors. The size standard is $17 million. The work includes the alterations of Building 11 for laboratory and office use. The interior demolition consists of gutting the interior to the structure; the removal of test equipment (wind tunnel, silica gel bed and settling chamber, 3 vacuum pumps, large compressor and accessories); and two equipment pads. Asbestos containing material has been identified and various painted surfaces are assumed to be coated with one or more layers of lead containing paint. Requests for plans and specifications may be mailed to the above address by indicating ''Plans Room'', first floor, Building 212 or requests may be sent via facsimile by using fax #(202)- 433-0939. Contractors within the local area are encouraged to pick-up a copy of the solicitation at Bldg. 212, first floor, Plans Room of the Washington Navy Yard. The hours of operation are 7:30-3:00, Monday through Friday. There will be a non-refundable charge for the documents, but as of this date the amount has not yet been determined. Please note that the plans/specs will be issued on a ''first-come, first-serve'' basis. NOTE: Bids are to be marked and submitted to Building 212, first floor, PLANS ROOM. The projected date of issuance of plans and specs is 01 August 1996. The projected date for bid opening is 02 September 1996.
