The work includes replacement of plumbing, piping, drywall, metal studs, finish ceiling, lighting fixtures, receptacles, wall and floor tile, and incidental related work in Buildings 2001 and 2002, each building with 108 bathrooms and 2 public toilets. The work also includes painting in these areas. The public toilets on the first floor will be made handicapped accessible. Construction will be phased and the building will be occupied during construction. Asbestos containing material in the work area will be removed. Painted surfaces in the work area is assumed to contain lead. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code for this project is 1522. The size standard is $17M. Requests for plans/specs must be made in writing accompanied with a check in the amount of $50.00 made payable to the order of US Treasury c/o EFA Chesapeake, mailed or hand delivered to the above address. Please note the plans/specs will be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis until supplies are exhausted. Contractors within the local area are encouraged to pick-up a copy of the solicitation at Building 212, First Floor, Plans and Specs Office at the Washington Navy Yard. The hours of operation are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday thru Friday. Requests for bidders lists must be made separately. There is no charge for bidders lists. The projected date for issuance of plans and specs is 22 July 1996. The projected date for receipt of bids is 21 August 1996.
