The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) has established a master library of three dimensional (3D) Computer Aided Design (CAD) 2 elements for all modeling activities to access and share 3D part data. All CAD 2 parts were created using the Intergraph CAD System. The purpose of the NAVSEA Master library is to promote CAD 2 data sharing, insure consistent centralized data management, control, and quality of stored CAD 2 parts, and make 3D CAD 2 part data visible quality of stored CAD 2 parts, and make 3D CAD 2 part data visible and readily available for use by all NAVSEA and Industry CAD 2 users. There are over 4,000 different shipboard equipment 3D parts and 30,000 different component types in the library. These component types include piping, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), and structural component library parts. For each component type, there are also a number of different sizes. Electronic access to the NAVSEA Master CAD 2 Part Library server (named COSMOS) is now available to the NAVSEA community and its supporting Industry team. The detailed instructions for users to follow in gaining electronic access to the Master Library are documented in the NAVSEA 3D Product Modeling Standards and Procedures, NAVSEA T0750-AH-PRO-010/CAD-2 dated May 1, 1996. This manual also provides the minimum standards for CAD 2 users to comply with when creating 3D catalog or library parts (i.e., equipment and components). This is important to ensure the consistent creation of 3D models by all activities.
