The contractor shall provide one (1) Scanning Electron Microscope/Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM/EDS) system that provides the functionality to support the materials and electronic device projects within the U.S. Army. The system will also provide state-of-the-art capabilities in SEM/EDS analysis, procedures, and programs. The system must be capable of providing qualitative and quantitative microstructural data for a wide variety of electronic, magnetic and optical materials. The objective is to continue the U.S. Army's ability to rapidly characterize materials and devices. This information is correlated with device performance and/or processing conditions, with the end result being improvement in device operating characteristics (and thus that of military systems). This analytical capability will also be applied to on-call, failure analysis of DOD military systems. All responsible sources may submit a bid or proposal which will be considered by the Agency.
