sought synopsis. This synopsis is a request for sources which can shred
bomb dummy units (BDU's) at four consolidation points on the Barry M.
Goldwater Air Force Range. There will be approximately 3500 tons of
bombs to be shredded and salvaged. The bombs consist of BDU 33's, Mk 23
Practice Bombs, 5'' Practice Zuni Warheads, M 38 Practice Bombs, 2.75''
Practice Rocket Warheads, 20mm Inert Projectiles, and 30mm Inert
Projectiles. The contractor must be able to comply with the following
criteria: supply all equipment and manpower necessary to shred and
salvage the above list of items, be capable of commencing operations
NLT 30 days after award of contract, arrange transportation for water
to the remote shredding sites with no nearby water access, provide own
EMT support, be capable of shredding no less than 4 tons per hour,
have all operations completed in 26 weeks, and provide all
transportation required for personnel and equipment. The Shredding Unit
design must meet the following criteria: be transportable over
semi-improved roads, have it's own power/fuel supply, have capability
of remote operation, should have method of remote lifting of BDU's, be
capable of shredding BDU's into small to medium pieces (i.e. no larger
than 5 by 4 inches), have safety door/lid to contain any possible
fragments from escaping, have a system for rinsing BDU's to remove any
possible black powder or red phosphorus from the scrap metal, and meet
current EPA standards. The contractor must demonstrate capability to
properly shred BDU's prior to award of contract. Arizona does not
