COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 15,1996 PSA#1636SANDIA NATIONAL LABORATORIES (ALBUQUERQUE, NM), SEEKS PARTNERS TO
ASSIST IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND COMMERCIALIZATION OF A NEW, PROPRIETARY
WIRELESS TELEMETRY TECHNOLOGY The telemetry technology, referred to as
SAM, utilizes existing and familiar oilwell tubulars, such as casing,
tubing, drill pipe, and rods, to communicate with a downhole sensor
package in real time. While the well was pumping and producing fluid,
the technology has been proven to simultaneously transmit data from the
SAM/sensor package 2700' down a rod pumped well, to the surface at a
2400 baud rate. This case represents neither the limits of the
technology, nor the only potential application. Potential partners are
sought for technical development of the SAM/sensor package. The nature
of the agreement may be a collaborative research project between Sandia
and one or more other parties with the goal of technology maturation.
It is envisioned that this project will result in a commercially
marketable version of the SAM/sensor package. Partners will be asked to
participate under the terms of a CRADA (Cooperative Research &
Development Agreement). Partners will be asked to leverage their
research dollars in this effort. Partners must be committed to the
eventual commercialization of SAM, and demonstrate the ability to do
so. An up-front agreement to license the patented technology, up to a
5 year exclusive license, within specific fields of use, will be
negotiated with the chosen partners. Interested partners are asked to
respond in writing through mail or FAX by July 26, 1996. Joanne

are interested in at this time and a statement of your capability in
this area. Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0625 19960712\SP-0001.MSC)
