Wandick (816) 426-6823, Ext.237 The government intends to procure a brand name or equal EG&G acoustical release and control system for the NOAA, Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL), Ann Arbor, Michigan. The following items are required: Item 0001, Deck Unit Model 8011A, 1 each; Item 0002, Transducer, Model 8012A, 1 each; Item 0003, Acoustical Release, Model 8241, 3000 Meter, 1 each. The Item 0001, Deck Unit AND Item 0002, Transducer, Model 8012A, shall be programmable for compatibility to other manufacturer's and custom command systems; specifically AMF 314 releases; shall have an RS232 port to allow for computer control of operation, acoustic navigation testing and logging; shall have interrogate and receive frequencies selectable from 7.5 - 25 KHz; shall have transmit source level of 192 dB re 1 uPa at 1 meter and shall be controllable by operator; shall have a beeper which shall have audio confirmation of received acoustic signals; shall have auxiliary/diagnostics port which shall have connection for Acoustic Transponder Release Diagnostic, PGR interface and access to internal signal in control disk unit. The Item 0003 Mechanical components shall have static working load through case (no tension rod) - 10,000 lbs. and corrosion resistant housing and fasteners; the Acoustic components shall be compatible with ED&G 8011A Ranging Receiver; and, acoustical release must be of proven design, with experience from long-term, deep deployments and must furnish references for this component requirement. This procurement is a proposed sole source. If there are no other qualified vendors the procurement will be issued to EDGETECH of Milford, Massachusetts. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) will be issued on or about July 31, 1996. Interested parties should submit their interest within 15 calendar days from the date of the CBD announcement.
