D -- UPGRADE OF SIMULATOR COMPUTER SYSTEMS DUE 081694 POC Mary Jo Mattia, Contracting Officer, 301/415-7315/Joanna Lilley, Contract Specialist, 301/415-6743 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission intends to issue a sole source modification under contract NRC-26-94-261 with Encore Computer Systems, Incorporated for new work. This modification upgrades the present Encore based computer systems for the Trojan simulator and Babcock and Wilcox simulator, located at the NRC Technical Training Center (TTC) in Chattanooga, TN, and includes simulator computer systems software update service. The procurement shall be conducted using other than full and open competition in accordance with FAR 6.302-1. The Trojan simulator presently uses two Encore 32/9780 computers and the Babcock and Wilcox simulator uses a single Encore 32/9780 computer to execute the simulator models and perform control benchboard input/output. These computer systems utilize the Encore MPX proprietary operating system and customized executive systems that are coded entirely in Encore assembly language and related software that is not available off-the-shelf, commercially. The computer systems are incapable of using all of the features of the current version of the Encore operating system. Interested respondents must submit a written capability statement including technical information sufficient to demonstrate a bona fide capability to meet this requirement to the address shown above.
