This synopsis is published pursuant to the requirements of FAR Subpart 5.2 - The Naval Sea Systems Command intends to negotiate and award a contract modification by means of other than full and open competition as permitted by 10 USC 2304(c)(1) with Electric Boat Corporation (EBCORP), Groton, CT, for technical engineering and program support under Phase III of the Improved Performance Machinery Program (IPMP). This effort is a continuation of the engineering technical support services, prototype design services, and program support for the New Attack Submarine (NSSN) Phase III Main Propulsion Unit (MPU) and the High Speed Direct Current (HSDC) Ship Service Turbine Generator (SSTG) set currently being provided by EBCORP under an existing NAVSEA contract. At a minimum, it will include 42,000 man-hours of technical engineering and program support under the IPMP. EBCORP possesses unique experience in IPMP technical engineering and program support, and is currently responsible for designing, manufacturing, and testing of the NSSN MPU and SSTG.
