Protection Project, the Bureau of Indian Affairs requires all labor,
materials, tools and equipment to provide and install at the Chemawa
Indian Schools Dormitories, Salem, OR; Automatic Sprinkler System; and
Upgrade the Dormitories' Existing Fire Alarm System. Estimated cost
range of project is $100,000-$250,000. Section 7(b) of PL 93-638 (25
USC 450e) and DIAR 1452-204-71 require that preference opportunities in
employment and training be given to Indian/Alaska Native economic
enterprises. Failure by the contractor to submit a plan for doing so
prior to award and implement same after award shall be sufficient
reason for non-award or termination of the contract for default - an
Indian/Alaska Native economic enterprise need only be 51 percent
Indian/Alaska Native owned to qualify for subcontract preference.
