TACOM-ARDEC is conducting a Market Survey for a hand held terminal for
use on the 155mm Automated Towed Howitzer Fire Control Demonstrator.
This terminal must be a non-developmental item and must meet the
following requirements. The terminal shall provide the sole interface
for the soldier. It must be capable of surviving and operating in the
extreme environments encountered in the field, including varied
conditions of sunlight and darkness, temperature extremes, rain, snow,
salt water, etc. The terminal display shall be capable of displaying
graphics and text simultaneously. The display size shall allow a
minimum of 8 line text of at least 40 characters per line. Graphics
capability at a minimum shall allow lines, circles, rectangles/boxes to
be drawn. The terminal shall incorporate a keyboard, perferably
backlighted for night viewing. At a minimum, the following keys are
required: numeric keys 0-9; navigation keys up, down, left, right;
function keys F1, F2, F3, F4; ENTER key. The terminal shall interface
with the 155mm Automated Towed Howitzer Fire Control using RS232 serial
signal levels. If a suitable terminal is found, ARDEC will consider
procurement of approximately 12 units for evaluation and test purposes;
delivery would be required in 1996. Interested firms should submit in
