COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 17,1996 PSA#1638USEPA, Contracts Mgmt. Div., Cincinnati, OH 45268-7001 66 -- DIGITAL PARTICLE IMAGE VELOCIMETER SOL RFQ 96-71 POC Contact
Point, Angela Thompson, (513)366-2005 The USEPA plans to procure on a
competitive basis a digital particle image velocimeter (DPIV) which
will be used to determine instantaneous spatially resolved velocity
vectors in turbulent flow by recording particle displacements and using
correlation techniques, which include auto-correlation,
auto-correlation with image shift, and cross-correlation with either
single or multiple recorders to study flow fields with reversible flow.
The system is for use with an existing Argon-Ion laser (Laxel, 4W) in
the expanded beam configuration, and requires optical mounts to carry
the laser and the rest of the supplied optical hardware. In this
configuration the laser beam may need to be chopped using either pulse
modulator or shutter techniques and synchronized with a CCD camera.
The supplier must integrate EPA's current Laxel laser with the DPIV
system to be supplied. Since the laser beam is Gaussian, optics capable
of top-hat intensity profile are required with interchangeable
cylindrical lenses of the following F.L.-6.xx,-12.xx,-25 mm. In order
to capture turbulent flows surrounding various samplers, under often
non-ideal (aerosol) seeding conditions, CCD camera featuring macro zoom
lens with a frame rate of 30/s and improved high quality image
resolution (768xx494) is needed. This implies the need of the Frame
Grabber (8 bit resolution or better) with 32 frames on board image
memory expandable to 64, and capable of simultaneous I/O (input and
output) of the bitmaps to prevent memory fill-up. High acceptance rate,
adjustable up to 100 MB/sec is needed. Consequently a 200 Mhz Pentium
PC needs to be incorproated in the DPIV system, featuring 64 MB RAM and
10 GB HD. PC should have Hi-Resolution (1280x1024), 0.25 mm Dot Pitch,
17'' color monitor. Delivery address is USEPA, S-111, Annex, Alexander
Drive, Research Triangle Park, NC 22711. Requests for RFQ 96-71 must be
in writing to the above address or faxed to Angela Thompson at
513/366-2107. Telephone requests will not be honored. This is an
unrestricted acquistion. All responsible sources may submit a bid which
will be considered by the Agency. (0197) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0445 19960716\66-0002.SOL)
