14 -- POLISH SAPPHIRE BARS IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATEMENT OF WORK SOL N68936-96-Q-3415 DUE 082696 POC Kathy Woolery, Purchasing Agent, 619/939-8187 or Sheryl Allen, Contracting Officer, 619/939-9659. The Naval Air Warfare Center, China Lake, CA intends to procure on a sole source basis, the services to polish 360 government furnished sapphire bars in accordance with the statement of work that will be provided with the RFQ. This procurement is sole sourced to Meller Optics in Providence, RI. The rational for the sole source is that the procurement of polishing services from the same polishing house is required to continue the testing currently being done in a missile. It would not be meaningful to test sapphire polished from a different polishing house because it may have somewhat different precision/properties. All resposible sources may submit an offer which will be considered. Solicitation will be issued on or about 15 days after publication of this notice. Anticipated award date is August 15th, 1996.
