The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) intends to purchase Laboratory Equipment BY OTHER THAN FULL AND OPEN COMPETITON from Laser Analytical Systems., as competitive purchase for the Purchase Order. The intended source Laser Analytical Systems., the exclusive distributor of the Narrow Linewithdth pulsed Dye Laser for the NIH laboratory. The Dye Laser is needed to add to the existing system to permit mass-resolved excited state lifetime and energy level experiments to be made. The existence of a second dye laser will permit excited state lifetimes to be studied by varying the time delay between the exciting and ionizing lasers. It will also enable transient changes in excited state energy levels to be detected by enableing us to select the exciting and ionizing laser wavelengths independently. We will, therefore, be able to study all fluorescence observations with the additional advantage of mass-resolved idenifications of the absorbing species. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which if timely received, shall be considered by the agency. All request for quotations must be in within the Simplified Acquisition Thereshold $ 50,000. It is anticipated that Request For Quotation (RFQ) Number NIH-NIDDK-96-201 will be available within fifteen (15) days after the publication date of this synopsis. Receipt of quotations will be due ten (10) days after the release of the RFQ. The anticipated award date is August 8, 1996.
