SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW VEHICLE MAINTENANCE

Postal Service is seeking Architectural/Engineering services to prepare
plans and specifications for the construction of a Vehicle Maintenance
Facility (VMF) along with related site improvements in Boston, MA. The
scope is as follows: Prepare plans and specifications to demolish the
existing VMF and other structures located on the ''A'' Street site;
Prepare plans and speciications for related site improvements required
to build the facility; Prepare plans and specifications to construct
a new VMF of approximately 27,000 sf on the existing site. This project
may contain an option for construction administration. The estimated
construction cost for the new VMF and site improvements will be 7
million dollars. Interested firms must have experience in the design of
vehicle maintenance facilities and a strong environmental background.
Firms which possess the qualifications to perform the services
described above are invited to submit a completed SF255,
''Architect-Engineer and Related Services Questionnaire'', and a
completed SF254, ''Architect-Engineer and Related Services
Questionnaire for Specific Project'' no later than Thursday August 22,
1996, 4:00 pm EST to the office noted above. Selection criteria will
be conducted with the combined use of SF254 and SF255. Interested firms
with more than one office should indicate on their SF524 and SF255, the
staffing composition of the office in which the work will be performed.
Firms (with the use of their consultants) must have on their staffing
the following registered disciplines, all who must be licensed in the
state of Massachusets: Architect, Mechanical Engineer, Electrical
Engineer, Civil Engineer, Structural Engineer, and Environmental
Specialists. Considerations will be given to interested firms according
to the following order of preference: 1) Local, being within a 5 mile
radius of the site of the new facility; 2) The city of Boston; 3)the
state of Massachusetts; 4) All others. Architectural/Engineering firms
will be considered local only if their sole office is in the
geographical area or they have a local branch office and all the
architectural design, coordination and management of the project will
be accomplished in that office. It is prohibited to pay any fee,
commission, percentage or brokerage fee to any person or firm
contingent upon, or resulting from award of a contract. Offerors are
