JAPAN: FLAVOURING SEASONINGS The following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif. 96.189. 1. Member to Agreement notifying: Japan. Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable, otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where applicable): Flavouring seasonings (HS:2103.90). 5. Title, number of pages and language(s) of the notified document: Revision of Quality Labelling Standards for Flavouring Seasonings (3 pages, available in Japanese). 6. Description of content: (1) In response to the diversification of flavouring materials, certain flavouring materials will be added to the coverage of the standards and products made from combinations of flavouring materials will be subject to the standards. (2) DL-Alanine and L-Histidine will be added as permitted food additives. 7. Objective and rationale: Protection of consumer's interests. 8. Relevant documents: The basic law is the Law Concerning Standardization and Proper Labelling of Agricultural and Forest Products.
