equipment, transportation to install a complete automatic fire
sprinkler system (73,000 sf of unsprinkled space and modifications in
additional areas), repair to various walls/ceilings requiring fire
and/or smoke ratings, replacement of doors requiring fire ratings, and
installation of one exterior window all in accordance with drawings
and specifications. The majority of work is the automatic fire
sprinkler system (supervisory switches and connection to existing fire
alarm circuits are included). Significant branches of work include
fire protection, doors and windows, finishes (gypsum board/framing,
plastering, painting) firestopping and sealants, and electrical.
Invitation for bid will be issued on or about August 5, 1996 and bid
opening will be on or about September 5, 1996. A pre-bid conference
will be held on August 21, 1996 at 9am. Attendance at the pre-bid
conference by prospective bidders is strongly encouraged. Construction
cost estimate is between $250,000.00 and $500,000,00. The standard
industrial classification (SIC Code) for this project is 1711. It is
the goal of this medical center to make a contract award for the
construction of this project before the end of September 1996. However,
due to seasonal bed capacity constraints, actual construction work on
site will not begin until February 3, 1977. The time between Notice to
Proceed (11/4/96) and actual construction work on site will be used to
complete all preliminary work and preparations (submittals, equipment
orders, mobilization, etc.) such that the contractor will be able to
begin construction work on February 3, 1977 and complete all
construction work by May 23, 1977. Requests for plans, specifications,
