The Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) intends to conduct Bench Scale Test of contractor's capability to perform remediation of plutonium contaminated soil. The Bench Scale Test will take place at the Nevada Test Facility. The contaminated soil intended for remediation is located on Johnston Atoll (JA). For the purposes of this test the soil from JA will be provided to participating contractors by DSWA upon arrival into the test area at Nevada. DSWA intends on developing the criteria around the operating environment at JA. Only the bidders to successfully demonstrate a process at Nevada will be included in the competition for Johnston Atoll. It is anticipated that the Bench Scale Test will take place during the period September to December 1996 depending on the number of participants. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. The test criteria for the Bench Test at Nevada will be published at a later date and will be used as a minimum evaluating discriminator for purposes of issuing invitations to participate in the Bench Test.
