COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 19,1996 PSA#1640REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST The United States Information
Agency's International Broadcasting Bureau (USIA/IBB) is seeking
private sector underwriting to deliver about 4,000 radios (6.14 lbs
each) to contest winners worldwide. Underwriting could be financial,
international express/courier services, or other. In return,
underwriters of this effort will receive on-air acknowledgment(s). Such
underwriting acknowledgment(s) would be comparable to those routinely
aired on National Public Radio and Television. Our broadcasts have
approximately 140 million weekly listeners who tune in Voice of America
and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. Additional millions more tune in
VOA on over 2000 independently owned AM/FM stations located around the
world. Worldnet, our international cable television service, also
would provide on-air acknowledgment(s). The on-air acknowledgments can
be given in 49 languages plus English worldwide or to a selective
area(s) and language(s) where the underwriter has special interest.
Interested parties must submit all expressions of underwriting interest
in writing. Each will be considered. Those willing to deliver the
radios at no cost to USIA, through underwriting, will receive
preference over those requiring payment. This is not a solicitation.
