(201)724-3214. Potential sources are sought for a recoil attenuating
mount (''soft mount'') to interface with both the M249 machine gun and
the M122 tripod and M240B machine gun and the M122 tripod. The mount
must interface with the traverse and elevating (T&E) mechanism for the
M122 tripod. All mount pins must be captivated, quick-release ensuring
they disengage/engage easily to prevent injury to hands and loss of
pins. This mount must weigh less than 5.25 lbs. and the envelope must
be no larger than 7'' wide, 13'' long, and 7'' high (without T&E
attached). It must provide an empty case deflector and a method to
securely attach the 200 round 5.56 mm ammunition container by which
ammunition can be fed into the M249 smoothly without twisting.
Additionally, the mount cannot interfere with use of the standard
7.62mm cardboard box/bag combination used with the M240B machine gun.
Use of the mount must not degrade the performance of either weapon.
These items must meet the Department of the Army guidelines for a
Non-Developmental Item (NDI). Interested sources are encouraged to
provide the following information within the next 30 days (August 20,

specifications, material breakdown, performance and reliability
information, availability/status, and company brochures/literature
regarding contractor capability, and cost of the item. This information

07806-5000. Also, one sample of candidate item(s) is required at no
cost to the government. The government plans to test the sample;
therefore, offerors who do not supply hardware cannot participate. The

government. No solicitation is available at this time. All responses
