The system provides the following capabilities; mechanical testing in two modes (bending or tensile offered in combination), scientific investigation and R&D; testing in selected environments; computer software to select the desired parameters; and analysis of the resultant data. In addition, this system can determine the susceptibility of a metallic material to hydrogen embrittlement and stress corrosion cracking in only several hours compared to conventional test systems which require hundreds or thousands of hours.
