The work of this project is to provide an eight-floor building, 120-workstation computer network, with a fiber optic backbone with integrated Category 5 cabling. Existing 120-workstation, 10 BaseT network will be utilized until project is complete and orderly conversion is possible. Architecture of the network is to be a star configuration. Project is divided into three phases/options with options/alternates included in some phases. Phase one includes provision and installation of a collapsed fiber optic backbone running from floor 5 to floors 4 and 6 through 11. options in phase one include fiber patch cords; relocation of 5th floor closet wiring and equipment to 5th floor communications room; upgrading, replacing or converting fiber for connection to existing hubs to allow incorporation of fiber backbone for 120 active ports of a stackable hub design; and provision of 8 to 16 port switching hub with fiber interface option to incorporate this hub on fiber backbone. Phase 2 includes installation of Category 5 Plenum UTP to 120 nodes located on eight floors. Option in phase two includes supply of 120 Category 5, RJ45 to RJ45, 24 awg stranded patch cord 5 foot for all 120 workstations.
