COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 22,1996 PSA#1641NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center, Code 217, Greenbelt, MD 20771 A -- KA-BAND PHASED ARRAY ANTENNA SOL RFP5-59272-235 POC Janet
Langweil, Contract Specialist, (301) 286-4212 Darlene E. Walter,
Contracting Officer, (301) 286-4239. NASA/GSFC intends to issue a
Request for Proposal (RFP)5-59272-235 on a competitive basis for a
Ka-Band Phased Array Antenna. The contractor will design, develop,
fabricate, assemble, test and deliver one engineering model, one
protoflight unit, and associated hardware with options for four
additional flight units. The antennas may require new and/or
state-of-the-art technology in the following areas: electronic steering
and scan performance for communications application; thermal design as
related to the antennas operation and survival in spacecraft
environment; small satellites, and the constraints that they place on
subsystems; semiconductor devices that exhibit a high degree of
radiation tolerance; designs that result in minimizing the cost of
replicating flight hardware; designs with high reliability that will
meet the required operational and storage life; and designs which can
be scaled in terms of Effectively Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP). The
contractor will be required to comply with detailed performance and
design requirements and specifications and performance assurance
requirements. The cost plus fixed-fee contract shall be performed at
the contractor's facility. The RFP is scheduled for release in August
1996. All requests for RFPs must be issued in writing to the individual
listed above. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which will
be considered by NASA. Electronic versions of the documents will be
provided on the World Wide Web at
