On or about 12 Aug 1996, this office will issue Invitation for Bids for
the construction of CONSOLIDATED BASE SUPPORT COMPLEX - PHASE III,
ELLSWORTH AFB, SD. Bids will be opened on or about 12 Sep 1996. This
solicitation is unrestricted and open to both large and small business
participation. Contractors interested in inspecting the site of the
proposed work should contact the Ellsworth AFB Resident Engineer, U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers, P.O. Box 669, Bldg 8201, Box Elder, SD 57719,
Telephone: (605) 923-2983. FAX (605) 923-2558. The work will include
the following: (Approx. quantities) Construct a two story 47,000 GSF
addition to an administrative office building currently under
construction. The building will include offices, conference rooms,
computer rooms, a courtroom anda document storage area. Construction
materials include CMU bearing walls with 4'' face brick, cast stone
trim, slab on grade first floor, precast concrete second floor, steel
frame roof, standing seam metal roofing, aluminum windows, acoustical
tile ceilings, VAV HVAC system, sprinkler fire protection, plumbing and
fluorescent lighting. Site Work Includes: 5 acres of clearing and
grubbing, 12,000 CY of cut and 8,000 CY of fill, 150 LF of sanitary
sewer, 800 LF of storm sewer, 850 LF of electrical feed, 800 A/480V
switchboard, 8,000 SY of bituminous pavement, seeding, sod, and
landscape planting. Demolition Work Includes (remote sites): 3
exissingle story buildings and 1 two-story building comprising 75,000
GSF. The estimated construction cost of this project is between
$5,000,000 and $7,500,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a
requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to
commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the
work 480 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions
will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete
the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be
required. Bid sets will be available on/a August 12, 1996. Half-size
plans and specifications will be furnished upon request. All requests
for solicitation packages should be made in writing no later than 14
days prior to bid opening. After such time, packages will be furnished
if supply is available. It has been determined that the number of sets
be limited to 1 (one) per firm (additional copies will be the
responsibility of the requestor). Please list street address (for
