Agricultural Research Service (ARS) requires all labor, supervision,
tools, and materials be provided to install a corrosion control
treatment system for the potable water system at the Plum Island Animal
Disease Center in Plum Island, New York. This system shall use sodium
bicarbonate and caustic soda in metered amounts. The work includes
removal of one storage tank and related piping, pumps, and electrical
connections, plus the installation of two (2) stainless steel storage
tanks, pumps and instrumentation, and related piping and electrical
connections. Contractors are advised that this facility is a
quarrantine research laboratory located on an island 1-1/2 miles off
the northern-most tip (Orient Point) of Long Island, New York.
Transportation incidental to performance of this project may be
provided by Government-furnished boats. The estimated cost of
construction is between $100,000 and $250,000. This project must be
completed within 150 days after receipt of notice to proceed.
Solicitation No. IFB 31-3615-96, which contains further information and
plans and specifications, will be available on or about August 6, 1996.
