approximately 660,000 cubic yards of existing spoil mounds located
along a portion of the south side of C-111 between U.S. Highway 1
(US-1) and Structure 18C, and raising the elevation of the eastern most
15 gaps to +2.0 feet plus or minus 6 inches. Of the 50 spoil mounds to
be removed, 47 mounds will be removed under the base contract. Mounds
22, 23, and 24 are considered ''Optional work items.'' The excavated
material will be hauled 12.5 miles to a designated area located in the
Frog Pond. The haul route requires upgrading (widening) a 1-mile
stretch of an existing haul road which requires 17,500 cubic yards of
material which will come from the excavated spoil mounds in this
contract. Magnitude of construction is between $5,000,000 and
$10,000,000. Pre-solicitation Notice will be issued on or about July
23, 1996. Invitation DACW17-96-B-0030 will be issued on or about August
9, 1996 and opened or or about September 10, 1996. Cost of Plans and
Specifications is $35.00. Checks should be made to F & A Mobile
District, and sent to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, (street address:
