The proposed contract is unrestricted. Project will include the demolition of 54 family housing units and the design and construction of 54 housing units, and will utilize turnkey design/construction procurement procedures. Units will include garages and patios, kitchen ranges, refrigerators, washers, dryers, garbage disposals, dishwashers and hard-wired interconnected smoke detectors, etc. Supporting facilities include underground utilities and information systems, street lights, paving, walks, curbs, gutters, open play areas and landscaping. At least 5% of units will be handicapped accessible/modifiable. The estimated cost of the proposed project is between 5 million and $10 million. Solicitation to be issued o/a August 16, 1996. Documents to be available at $79.00 per set of specifications and full-size drawings. Single copies of specifications alone may be purchased by interested applicants for $17.00. Full-size drawings alone may be purchased for $62.00 a set. Payment must accompany request. Checks and money orders to be made payable to the U. S. Army Engineer Division, Pacific Ocean. Payment will not be refunded and specifications and drawings need not be returned. Small and disadvantaged firms are encouraged to participate as prime contractors or as members of joint ventures with other small businesses and all interested contractors are reminded that the successful contractor will be expected to place subcontracts to the maximum practicable extent with small and disadvantaged firms in accordance with the provisions of Public Law 95-507. SPECIAL NOTE: A Pre-Proposal Conference will be held o/a September 5, 1996, and all questions should be submitted prior to the conference. Any questions received after the conference, but not later than 14 days before proposal closing date, and which may affect other offers, will be addressed in an amendment.
