This project is for the construction of two earthen embankments
designed for erosion control at county road crossings in Collingsworth
County. The sites are located in the Rolling Red Plains Resource area
of Texas. The sites are designed as dry dams. Each will have a pipe
serving as principal and emergency spillway and an energy dissipation
basin. A water way between the structures will be shaped and seeded
with grass. A system of underground outlets will be installed to route
water captured by the existing terraces into the new structures. Major
items of work are: 10,749 cu yds of Class A compacted earth fill, 38
cu. yds of drainfill, 3,716 cu yds of common excavation, 169 ft. of24''
corrugated steel pipe,23.3 cu yds. of concrete, 2393 lbs of
steelreinforcement, 90 tons of rock rip rap, 780 ft. of underground
outlet with 7 vertical inlets and 4 outlets, vegetation of the works,
and approximately 1000 ft. of fence. There is a significant potential
for encountering dispersive soils in portions of the borow area;
therfore. special attention shall be given toinspecting the borrow.The
work is approximately 6.5 miles southeast of Wellington, Collingsworth
county, Texas.Estimated Price range is between $25,000 and
