87 -- ANALYSIS OF THE NATIONAL SURVEY OF LABORATORY ANIMAL, USE, FACILITIES AND RESOURCES SOL NHLBI-RR-P-96-102 DUE 082696 POC Zetherine L. Gore, Contract Specialist, 301-435-0365. The National Center for Research Resources on behalf of the National Institutes of Health has conducted a nationwide survey of laboratory animal use, facilities and resources. The survey was administered and all survey data has been entered into a database. The survey process has two stages: 1) database management, computer programming and statistical analysis, and 2) technical report writing. Expertise in these two stages is required. No current comprehensive, national data are available. The last survey was published in 1980, with earlier surveys reported in 1970 and 1964. The NIH seeks a contractor to perform computer programming and data and statistical analysis on the information obtained from the questionnaire and survey data to prepare a technical report, including charts and tables, of this data for distribution to the public. The contractor shall have demonstrated expertise in : 1) database management, computer programming, and systems operations for large surveys, 2) FoxPro 2.6 with WINDOWS software and statistical software packages, such as SAS, 3) statistics and data analysis and synthesis, and 4) the design of tables, charts and graphs. The contractor also shall have demonstrated expertise in 1) report writing, editing and formatting, and 2) knowledge of veterinary practices with experience in analysis of surveys and knowledge of federally-funded grant and contract programs in support of animal research.
