The solicitation packages will be available on July 30, 1996 with an anticipated bid opening on or about Sept. 2, 1996. The successful bidder will be responsible for providing Optometry services being professional in nature, to be provided in the method as considered normal in the local community. They will be responsible for examining measuring and prescribing eye glasses for each inmate as needed. He/She will do specialized testing for glaucoma of the eye, ocular pressures, and other special test to determine the need for eye glasses and special treatments. The successful contractor must be Board certified and licensed to practice Optometry. Services are requested for a four hour day once a week. The resulting contract will be a one year contract, starting October 1, 1996 through September 30, 1997. Additionally, the successful bidder will be required to pass a background investigation.
