Z -- EXTERIOR REPAIR/PAINT, PHASE II SOL IFB 678-45-96 DUE 091896 POC Pam Hayes, 520-629-4611 Furnish all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, facilities, and supervision to make repairs to and paint the exterior of Buildings 30 and 38 located at the VA Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. The existing exterior coating system of Building 30 is cracked and peeling and contains asbestos. The contractor shall remove failed portions of the existing exterior coating in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the removal of asbestos containing materials. These areas shall be resurfaced and textured to match existing and then a new elastomeric coating system shall be applied to all exterior stucco surfaces (approx 26,000 sf). In addition, all other Building 30 exterior finishes, such as decorative wood rafters and columns and iron railings, are to be refinished. A connecting corridor (approx 7,000 sf) attached to Building 30 shall also be painted as part of this project. The exterior stucco surfaces of Building 38 (approx 38,000 sf) shall be painted but are in much better condition than Building 30 and will not require the same extensive repair. The materials and workmanship of all finishes on exterior stucco surfaces shall carry a ten year warranty from both the contractor and paint manufacturer against cracking, peeling, bubbling, and extensive fading. The Standard Industrial Classification code is 1721. The construction cost estimate is between $250,000.00 and $500,000.00. Funds are not currently available for this project. Specifications will be issued on/or about August 14, 1996. Bid opening is scheduled for September 18, 1996. Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference is scheduled for September 4, 1996 at 9am local time.
