Command (AMC) is requesting information for evaluation of existing
commercial passenger baggage X-ray machines. The machines will be used
to screen passenger hand-carried baggage at various world-wide
military passenger terminals. The machines must meet minimum FAA
requirements as described in Title 14 Part 108.9, Air Carrier
Regulation, and Title 14 Part 108.17, Use of X-ray Systems. In
addition, The machines MUST have the technical capability to detect
plastic explosives and plastic weapons. Additional information is
requested on the following: 1) Stationary and portable units, 2) Air
and surface transportability, 3) Lease/purchase options, 4) Operator
training programs, and 5) Maintenance options. This Request for
Information is not a commercial solicitation and the Government will
pay neither for any information submitted nor for any costs incurred in
preparing a response to this RFI. Replies to this notice for potential
sources must be submitted no later than 30 days after publication in
