POC Bob Sullivan, Contract Negotiator, (317)306-3166. The U.S. Navy is
seeking sources for a Commercial Off-the Shelf (COTS) ''braiding
machine.'' The braiding machine shall process wire and fabric materials
to create a braided jacket over wiring harnesses and cable assemblies.
The braiding machine will be used in wiring repair work centers and
naval Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Departments (AIMDs) and will
give personnel the capability to create wire/cable harness braiding for
purposes of EMI shielding, and enhanced wiring harness physical
protection properties. The braider should possess the following
capabilites: Must have multiple spooling capability, Must create a
woven jacket over wire bundles quickly and accurately, Must process
both wire and fabric materials, and Utilization of a maximum of 16
square feet of floor space preferred. Firms possessing a braiding
machine in their current inventory/catalog, and/or that have the
capabilities to produce a braiding machine which meets the above
functional and physical criteria are invited to submit information
