70 -- SOFTWARE MAINTENANCE POC Junghie Choi Elky Tel: 410-965-9483 The Social Security Administration is seeking to identify vendors who can provide either Extended Maintenance Service (EMS) and Upgrade Only Service for Information Builders, Incorporated micro-computer products, including but not limited to PC FOCUS for Windows, PC FOCUS Reporter for Windows, FOCUS DB/Server, FOCUS/EIS for Windows or EDA/Link, or software that is fully functional and equivalent to the foregoing as well as maintenance thereon. The above mentioned maintenance is sought for a total of 5 years, consisting of one base year and 4 option years. Responses will be evaluated based on compliance to the functional requirements. Functional Requirements for the Software Maintenance Service: (1) Extended Maintenance Service (EMS) for a limited number of software copies (presently 10) - The contractor must keep all covered software in proper operating condition and be responsive to the maintenance requirements of the Government for a period of one year from the date of acceptance. Maintenance service must consist of detecting and correcting any program errors or, at contractor's discretion, providing a work-around solution, and updating any program changes that may occur. Maintenance is normally to be accomplished by sending the corrected or enhanced software and printed documentation. The contract must provide Hotline Telephone Assistance from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST, excluding weekends and holidays; (2) Upgrade Only for all remaining copies of software not designated to receive EMS (presently about 500). These copies are to be upgraded to a specific release level as designated by the Contracting Officer's Technical Representative. Upgrades may involve a change in operating systems but may not involve a change in product line. Fixes to the software upgrades shall also be made available to the Government, at no additional cost, upon request. The software to be maintained runs on IBM-compatible PCs located nationwide throughout the Agency. Firms having the capability to provide the required maintenance or fully functional and equivalent software and maintenance thereon are invited to submit complete details. The responses must clearly state the ability to provide the necessary service within 30 days of contract award. Interested parties must respond to this notice within 15 calendar days from the date of this publication. Responses must refer to Synopsis Number 96-002-JE and be addressed to the procuring office listed in this announcement to the attention of Ms. Junghie Choi Elky. No open market award will be made on the basis of responses received. However, the information will be used in SSA's assessment of capable sources.
