The Naval Research Laboratory has a requirement for a Vacuum Relay Optics Junction Box System to be installed at the Navy Prototype Optical Interferometer (NPOI). This is a total small business set-aside. The system will consist of a set of 12 elevator cans in which optics will be mounted to retrieve the light from the NPOI siderostat stations and inject it into the interferometer. The elevator cans consist of can weldments - each can having top and bottom plates, a special mounting plate for attaching to a concrete pier next to the siderostat station, and interior mounting plates for mounting the optics used to transfer the siderostat beam into the vacuum pipe. The contractor will construct the junction box elements according to specifications provided by the NPOI. The required delivery date is between 90 and 120 days after contract award.
