COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 31,1996 PSA#1648U.S. EPA, Contracts Management Div, Cinicnnati, OH, 45268-7001 66 -- RETROFIT OF VEHICLE SOL 96-102 POC Pam Legare (513-366-2015) The
Robert S. Kerr Environmental Research Laboratory has a need to retrofit
a mobile field-site van with a hydraulic powered subsurface sampler. A
1995 cargo-type van will be provided to the contractor for the
retrofit. The equipment to be provided will enable fast cost effective
sampling gases, water and soils on field sites by in-house staff to
support efforts to develop and test new hazardous waste site remedial
technologies and will be used to provide direct support in Superfund
site characterization and extent of contamination surveys. Minimum
requirements are as follows: 1)A hydraulic powered soil probe unit to
be used for soil core, soil gas, and ground-water sampling to depths at
least 40 feet in unconsolidated deposits. 2) Installation of a
hydraulic pump, fluid power system, and remote ignition in the carrier
vehicle is required. 3)supply and install a vacuum /volume system for
soil gas sampling. 4) one compressed gas cylinder rack is to be
installed in the probe compartment of the vehicle suitable for bottles
up to 45'' tall 5)provide basic probing tools to drive the subsurface
samplers 6)a large bore soil sampler with a sealed piston inside a
alloy steel sampling tube with replaceable hardened cutting shoes. 7)a
screen point water sampler need be included 8)a post-run tubing vapor
sampler 9) a macro soil sampling system 10)the vehicle to be
retrofitted will be equivalent to a 1999 Ford F-250HD extended cab 4x4
pickup truck locking differential with equivalent components of a 5.8L
V8 gasoline engine, four speed automatic transmission, 3.54 gear ratio,
heavy duty service package, heavy duty alternator, insulation package,
glass fixed side and rear, speed control/tilt wheel, air conditioning,
and AM/FM Stereo with clock. This vehicle will be provided by the
government to the contractors location for retrofitting. Requests for
solicitation 96-102 must be in writing to Pam Legare at the above
address or faxed to 513/366-2107. Telephone requests will not be
