United States Postal Service (USPS) Logistics Systems group is
interested in identifying potential vendors who can provide custom
built software applications to manage its air, highway, and rail
transportation networks. The custom built applications need to address
routing, scheduling, optimzation and performance analysis as well as
computer generated alert and monitoring systems. Any proposed solutions
should have a client/server architecture and run on IBM compatible
personal computer systems. The software should include the following
functionality: Maintain database of drivers, vehicles, service points,
schedules and routes, with capabilities to build/optimize routes
within a mode of transportation (highway) and across all modes of
transportation; interface via a standard COM collect ASCII data for
actual arrival/depature times and content load information for all
modes of transportation (truck/rail/air); and provide multiple levels
of user privileges allowing different user groups to perform different
sets of systems function. System should also include an easy to use
report generation utility. The potential vendor must have experience
with Windows 95, Windows NT, C++, and Oracle software. Firm interested
